Kerala tourism minister PA Mohamed Riyas started this service of 17-seater seaplanes on November 11th from Mattupetti.
With the help of the seaplane, you can travel from Kochi to Munnar in 25 minutes. So now it become the fastest way to reach to Munnar from Kochi. This project is initiated under the UDAN project. Most of the areas in Kerala are not connected to the air service. One of the best initiatives started by state and Central Governments is to facilitate this area’s people and increase tourism.
This is a 17-seater plane owned by Canadian company De Havilland. SpiceJet will help make the first trial flight successful. The price of this route is not finalised yet. If we compare other UDAN scheme flight rates, it should be between 1500 and 5000 rupees. Regarding luggage, you can carry up to 25 kg: 20 kg as check-in baggage and 5 kg as cabin baggage.
